Janita Himawati:
Unzipping New Possibilities

Janita Himawati is known for her knowledge of art and culture in Indonesia,
Southeast Asia, and Europe. In her work as an artist, the use of mixed media and
embrace of classic and contemporary style produces unusual and
trend-setting creations. Her collage work started in 2006, leading off with her Blucolage
series. Her new line is titled Unzipping New Opportunities,
for which she sourced material from magazines of the 1940s and 1950s. 

Janita started her art business in 1998 and established Neru Indonesia in Ubud in 2008
to showcase the creative journey of artists, crafters, and designers. On offer are
one-of-a-kind jewelry and accessories, and specially designed homeware.
With unique designs, they produced on a small scale and show a touch of Indonesia.

Her current interests include collaborative projects for art, sharing knowledge and
experience among art lovers, and supporting youth and emerging artists.
She is a regular visitor of contemporary art exhibitions and fairs in Southeast Asia, and
is passionate about visiting museums, reading award winning books,
joining photography workshops, and watching musical shows and plays.
She is also an avid street photographer. 

Janita studied economics and English language, with a master degree in
applied English linguistics. She lives in the artist town of Ubud in Bali and in Jakarta,
Indonesia,
